D3: Instructions onDeveloping a Sense of Inquiry on Classroom Learning Using Learning Theories
This discussion will start with an initial posting.
What do you need to do during the first week of Discussion?(Everything needs to be posted by Sunday of the first week if not earlier)
1. From the list of learning theories we are studying in this course, please choose TWO that you will not be presenting as part of Assignment One: Webminar on Wimba.
2. For the first theory you selected, you need to come up with a research question about the applications of this theory to a learning behavior or problem you want to find solutions for in your classroom. You may refer back to your observations in Discussion Two. Include in your research question the target population that you want to study. Finally, provide a brief explanation (3-5 sentences) of why you are interested in this research question. This should be your FIRST initial post and needs to be completed before the end of the first week of Discussion Three. Please label your subject heading with your last name and "first".
3. For the second theory you selected, you also need to come up with a research question about the applications of this theory to a learning behavior or problem you want to find solutions in your classroom. Again, you may refer back to your observations in Discussion Two. Include in your research question the target population that you want to study. Finally, provide a brief explanation (3-5 sentences) of why you are interested in this research question. This should be your SECOND initial post and needs to be completed before the end of the first week of Discussion Three. Please label your subject heading with your last name and "second".
What do you need to do during the second week of Discussion?(Everything needs to be posted by Sunday of the second week if not earlier)
1. In this second week of discussion, you are expected to provide comment or feedback as a reply to at least FOUR initial postings by your peers. Do you agree or disagree on how they frame their research question. Is the research question aligned with the learning theory they selected? Is the population to be studied appropriate? Is this research question of interest to you? Why?
2. One of your replies should be directed to an initial posting that used the same learning theory in one of your own initial postings.
3. Towards the end of the second week of discussion, you need to make an INITIAL posting (your third) with a subject heading label -- last name and "reflections". This initial posting will capture what you learned about designig and developing an inquiry in the classroom using learning theories as lenses.
4. You are expected to actively participate in the second week of discussion. You are encourage to do more than what is stated above as minimum expectations for initial postings and replies.
Assessment of Student Performance
1. Adherence to the instructions for this discussion.
2. Quality of initial postings and replies for this discussion.
